400 Senior Citizens and Students to Dance the Night Away at UNCW Valentine Celebration Feb. 9

The young will meet the wise this Valentine's Day week at the 17th annual University of North Carolina Wilmington Young at Heart Social. On Wednesday, Feb. 9 more than 200 senior adults and 200 UNC Wilmington student volunteers will put on their dancing shoes and forget generation gaps as they dance, enjoy refreshments and take photos together.
Area senior adults are invited to dress in semi formal attire and attend this free social from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the UNCW Burney Center. The annual event, coordinated by student leaders, is hosted by the UNCW Center for Leadership Education and Service (CLES).
Seniors can register by calling 910.962.3877. Music will be provided by the Dusty Long Band will include everything from swing to recent dance hits.
Visitor parking will be available in Lot E near the Warwick Center and Lot M near the Burney Center at the intersection of Price Drive and Riegel Road. Participants may be dropped off at the circle in front of the site for convenience. Media should call media contact for parking information.
Media are encouraged to cover this event, and/or capture set up beginning at 4:30 p.m. Students and seniors will be available for interviews. Media should plan to bring lighting, as the ballroom will be lit for atmosphere.
