UNCW's Business Week 2011 Offers Events with Local Business Interest and Alumni Success Stories, March 1-3

The University of North Carolina Wilmington's Cameron School of Business will hold its 29th annual Business Week March 1-3. Designed to help prepare Cameron School of Business students for the realities of the business world, this year's program will feature more than 100 sessions with prominent alumni and executives sharing their knowledge and experiences in the areas of business, marketing, entrepreneurship, information technology and more.

In addition to keynote presentations, numerous smaller classroom sessions will be held that feature speakers or panels with either local business and economic interest or Cameron School of Business alumni success stories. A sampling of these sessions is listed below.

Tuesday, March 1, Business Week Keynote Speaker
John Gizdic, vice president of strategic planning and business development at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, will speak at 11 a.m. in Cameron Hall 105. The topic of his presentation is "Healthcare Leadership in Changing Times."

Tuesday, March 1, Alumni and Retired Faculty Mixer
Cameron School of Business alumni social event and recognition of 2011 Outstanding Business Alumni of the Year honorees, 5:30 p.m., Computer Information Systems Building lobby. All alumni are invited to attend, but pre-registration is requested. To register, go to www.csb.uncw.edu/bw

Thursday, March 3, BB&T Center for Global Capitalism Lecture
UNCW's BB&T Center for Global Capitalism will host a lecture by John B. Taylor at 7 p.m. in Cameron Hall 105. Taylor is the George P. Schultz Senior Fellow in Economics at the Hoover Institution and the Mary and Robert Raymond Professor of Economics at Stanford University. He is one of the world's premier macroeconomists, has held key policy making roles in the U.S. government and is likely on the "short list" of candidates for the Nobel Prize in economics. He will address developments in the U.S. financial system and economy that led to the recent financial crisis and Great Recession. A limited number of seats are available to the general public.
