UNCW Students to Volunteer with Children and YMCA this Weekend

Students from the University of North Carolina Wilmington will lend a helping hand at two events this weekend:

Elementary school children from the MLK Center and UNC Wilmington students will decorate birdhouses together at the "Bird is the Word" event from 3-5:30 p.m. Friday, March 24. Students will mentor and assist with assembling bluebird birdhouses while teaching children the importance of being good stewards of their environment. The event will be held at the New Hanover County Senior Center, 2222 South College Rd., Wilmington.

Students will also landscape and work on facilities at the Wilmington YMCA from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, March 26.

Both community service projects are will be facilitated by the UNC Wilmington Center for Leadership Education and Service (CLES). Each project is organized by student leaders and facilitated by the CLES office.
