WITX Conference to Bring Together Information Technology Professionals April 7 to Network and Upgrade their IT Knowledge

The Wilmington Information Technology eXchange and Conference
(WITX) brings together IT professionals to learn about the latest
trends, network and share their professional experiences. The theme
for this year's event, which will take place Thursday, April 7 at
the University of North Carolina Wilmington, is "IT Trends for
2011."
Hosted by UNCW, WITX will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Computer
Information Systems building. The event grows every year;
organizers expect more than 300 participants at this year's WITX
conference. The exhibits and networking events are free, while the
panels and presentations have a small fee to help defray the cost
of the event. Cost for non-students is $40 per individual session
or $100 for the entire conference. Registration is required. To

Schedule of Activities
1:30 p.m.
Keynote Presentation, Charles Severance, associate professor in the
School of Information at the University of Michigan, will discuss
the history and future of the Internet and its impact on evolving
technologies.
2:45 p.m.
Learning Exchanges: presentation and panel discussion;
choose from two concurrent sessions, "Cloud Computing" or "Mobile
Devices-Security Concerns"
3:45 p.m.
Learning Exchanges: presentation and panel discussion;
choose from three concurrent sessions, "Business Intelligence,"
"Social Networking & Collaboration Tools" or "IPv6"
4:30 p.m.
Exhibits open: UNCW students, faculty and local
technology companies present their latest research and technology
tools
5 p.m.
Networking tent open for conversations with IT
professionals in a casual environment
The vendor showcase and exhibits will feature information and
demonstrations of various technologies and products, with more than
40 exhibits by UNCW students and faculty as well as technology
businesses.
WITX is sponsored by the Cameron School of Business, the Department
of Information Systems and Operations Management, the Department of
Computer Science and the IS/MS CSIS Advisory Board at UNCW.
Media are invited to attend and cover this event, including live
shots and promos for noon and evening news shows. Visual opps will
include student, faculty and vendor demonstrations, seminars and
networking activities. Interviews will be available prior to, as
