Students at UNCW to Take Action during National Volunteer Week, April 9-16

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, April 9-16, the University of North Carolina Wilmington Center for Leadership Education & Service (CLES) will help those in need with service projects.

To localize this national week, UNC Wilmington students and others from across Wilmington area will work together on service projects from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 16, as part of Work on Wilmington. UNCW student volunteers will be painting and landscaping New Hanover High School facilities. For more information, visit www.workonwilmington.org .

Throughout the week, facts about volunteerism will be displayed across campus to raise awareness about the importance of volunteering.

Tuesday, April 12, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Fisher Student Union

Operation Clothesline

The community is invited to donate to this clothing drive for people in need throughout southeastern North Carolina, sponsored by the UNCW Catholic Campus Ministry. In addition to the collection, members of the Catholic Campus Ministry will educate students about the needs of the economically disadvantaged.

Tuesday, April 12, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Fisher Student Center, Sharkey's Game Room

Volunteer Appreciation Event

Games will be open and lunch will be provided to all participating student volunteers.

Thursday, April 14, 1-3 p.m., The Clock Tower

The Leadership Grove Ceremony

In an effort to maintain an environmentally sustainable campus, students will plant trees around the Campus Commons in honor of exemplary UNCW service leaders. For more information, visit www.uncw.edu/cles .
