Tornado Watch Until 4 p.m. on April 28

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for New Hanover County, including the UNCW main and the CMS campuses,  effective until 4 p.m. today, Thursday April 28, 2011. A tornado watch means that weather conditions are favorable for tornado development in New Hanover County. Showers and thunderstorms, some severe, will be in the area today along with strong wind gusts as high as 34 mph.

UNCW is closely monitoring the weather and will activate the UNCW Seahawk Warning Siren System if a Tornado Warning is issued for the County. Monitor weather conditions closely and review departmental tornado procedures. It is recommended to cancel any outdoor activities.
