UNC Wilmington Conference Brings Together Students, Academics and Practitioners to Discuss Integrated Marketing June 2-4

The University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Department of Communication Studies will host an academic conference on integrated marketing communication June 2-4 in the Computer Information Sciences building. Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) and Coordinated Management of Meaning (CMM): Finding Common Ground will focus on integrated marketing communication, an approach involving the use of public relations, advertising and direct marketing to effectively achieve an organization’s objectives and sustain its brand. Presenters will apply communication theory to integrated marketing communication to better understand how IMC applies to the world around us. Presentations involving students, faculty and nonlocal academics will illuminate effective teaching methods in IMC and communication studies.

UNCW undergraduate students will exhibit their IMC research at a poster session Saturday, June 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Communication studies students will present their work on wide range of topics including crisis communication, brand management, non-profit marketing, celebrity endorsement, green marketing and Super Bowl advertising.
Attendees will participate in panels and poster presentation sessions, as well as social events at local venues.

Media are invited to attend the conference Saturday, June 4 at UNCW’s CIS building from 11:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Undergraduate students will discuss their research projects during poster presentations in the Great Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. A practitioner panel will be held from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
