2011 UNCW Economic Outlook Conference to Focus on Forecasts, Global Trade and Real Estate

The economies of Wilmington and southeastern North Carolina have tended to fare better than the state and the nation as a whole in past economic downturns. How are things looking for our local economy as we come out of the most recent recession, and what will the coming year bring?Find out at the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s 8th annual Economic Outlook Conference (EOC), which will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11 in the Burney Center. The EOC is sponsored by UNCW’s Swain Center for Business and Economic Services.

As southeastern North Carolina’s premier forum for economic information and forecasting, the EOC brings business people together every year to prepare for the key trends, challenges and opportunities facing them in the future. UNCW Cameron School of Business faculty members Tom Simpson and Woody Hall will start the day by providing national and regional economic forecasts that will provide a context for panel discussions on global trade and real estate.
Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton, who serves as the chairman of the N.C. Logistics Task Force, will be the keynote speaker for the event.
