Monday, January 09, 2012
The Department of Communication Studies invites
student actors and designers/technicians to audition and interview
for the spring 2012 production of the musical "Working."
The musical, by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell,
Pippin, Wicked) and Nina Faso, is based on Studs
Terkel's book Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day
and How They Feel About What They Do. The production will be
directed by faculty member Frank Trimble, with music direction by
Lynn O'Connell.
Auditions for performers will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12
and Friday, Jan. 13 in the Leutze Hall Television Studio (LH 125).
Actors should be prepared to perform an a cappella piece
from a song of their choice and read from the
script.
Technical interviews may be scheduled by contacting Trimble at trimblef@uncw.edu . The production is seeking graphic artists, costume designers, photographers, studio camera operators, videographers, digital animators, studio engineers, lighting designers, audio designers and scenic designers. Participation will be arranged to accommodate class schedules.
The production will take place from April 26-29 over five performances. Participating students may enroll in COM 295-003 Applied Performance & Media Production for course credit, but class enrollment is not required. Group rehearsals will begin after spring break.
