Fair Organized by UNCW Students Encourages Seniors to Spring Into Aging April 3

Graduate students in the Masters of Gerontology Program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington will host an informational fair for senior adults from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 3 in the McNeill Hall Multipurpose Room 1051. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature four speakers who will speak on various topics of concern to older adults. Elder law attorney Andrew Olson will discuss elder legal issues and life care planning, wellness coordinator Joe Rouse from The Davis Pavilion will discuss benefits of exercise on heart health, and community outreach educatorMarianna Stacy from Brightmore will discuss elder abuse.

More than 15 vendors including Adult Day Services, New Hanover County Senior Resource Center, Liberty Medical Supply, Osher Lifelong Learning Center and Alzheimer's NC Inc. are scheduled to attend the event.

Individuals who attend the fair will enjoy refreshments and may receive free giveaways and door prizes. Free parking will be provided in the UNC Wilmington Parking Deck, with a shuttle service available for transportation to McNeill Hall.
