Former SEC Chair to Give BB&T Center for Global Capitalism Speech Oct. 11

Wilmington, N.C. - Harvey L. Pitt, former chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will present "An Inside Look at Current Financial Services Regulation and the Financial Crisis" as the featured speaker of the BB&T Center for Global Capitalism Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 in Cameron Hall, Room 105.
Pitt was chairman of the SEC from 2001 to 2003 and was responsible for overseeing the SEC's response to the market disruptions resulting from the terrorist attacks of 9/11, for creating the SEC's "real time enforcement" program and for leading the commission's adoption of dozens of rules in response to the corporate and accounting crises generated by the excesses of the 1990s.
He is currently chief executive officer of the global business consulting firm Kalorama Partners LLC and its law firm affiliate, Kalorama Legal Services PLLC.
The lecture is free and open to the public, but seating is limited so early arrival is advised.
