Thursday, March 07, 2013

Nearly 200 teachers are expected to attend a "hands-on" conference March 12 at UNCW to focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs. The conference is scheduled 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Education Building.

The Watson College of Education is sponsoring the conference through its Professional Development System, one of the strongest and most comprehensive examples of university–school partnerships in the nation. This collaborative initiative has established collegial working relationships with school systems across southeastern North Carolina. The conference is for partnership teachers who are hosting student interns this semester.

The conference agenda (PDF) includes sessions on robotics, mathematics, geoscience and laser technology, among other topics. Sue Kezios, director of youth programs at UNCW, is the keynote speaker.

Conference participants should contact Donyell Roseboro at 910-962-7244.
