Renowned Catholic Historian to Discuss Saint Hildegard, Doctor of the Church

The UNCW Department of Philosophy and Religion, Department of History, Catholic Campus Ministry and Student Government Association present a talk by a world-renowned Catholic historian Catherine Mooney. She will discuss Hildegard Von Bingen: Saint, Philosopher and Doctor of the Church at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 in the Burney Center.  Mooney is an associate professor of Church History in the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry and expert in hagiography and medieval history.

Saint Hildegard was a German writer, composer, philosopher, Christian mystic, Benedictine abbess and visionary. She wrote theological, botanical and medicinal texts, as well as liturgical songs and poems. On October 7, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI named her a Doctor of the Church.
