In 2013, the University of North Carolina Wilmington was recognized by several top-tier publications.

On Dec. 11, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance recognized UNCW as one of the “100 Best Values in Public Colleges, 2014.” The University moved into the top 30, to # 28, up four slots from the previous year.

Kiplinger’s begins with almost 600 institutions and ranks their top 100 public universities based on excellence and affordability. These new rankings will appear in their February issue but are online now.

“To be recognized by these prestigious institutions is a great honor and exemplifies that a quality education can be affordable,” commented UNCW Chancellor Gary L. Miller. “UNCW takes pride in offering students from around the world reasonable and innovative academic programs. We want students to excel in their studies without as much of a financial burden and we believe UNCW allows them to do just that.”

In September, UNCW received high marks from U.S. News & World Report, maintaining its top-fifteen ranking as one of the best overall universities in the South and one of the top ten public institutions in the South on its "Best Colleges 2014" regional list.

In August, The Princeton Review recognized UNCW as one of the “Best in the Southeast” on their “2014 Best Colleges: Region by Region” list. Earlier in 2013, the publication ranked UNCW as one of the nation's "Best Value" colleges and universities for the fifth consecutive year.

Additionally, Colleges of Distinction cited UNCW as one of the top public colleges and universities for 2013-14, while Washington Monthly selected the school as their thirteenth pick overall on their “Best-Bang-for-Your-Buck” list.
