A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a collaboration between UNCW and East Carolina University’s Department of Public Health was signed on June 18.
The MOU formalizes UNCW’s Public Health Studies (PBH) program’s relationship with ECU’s graduate program and provides qualified students expedited review of their admissions into ECU’s Master of Public Health Program.
This collaborative relationship will help develop a stronger public health workforce in eastern North Carolina while also facilitating collaborative research and public health interventions among the respective universities.
The Public Health Studies Program is housed within the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (SHAHS) in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). Chris Lantz, SHAHS director, says, “I appreciate ECU’s collaboration in creating a mechanism allowing UNCW PBH graduates an opportunity to pursue the MPH in such an outstanding program at ECU. I look forward to more exciting activities and programs as our collaboration develops.”
Charles Hardy, CHHS dean, says, “I want to personally thank Lloyd Novick, chair of ECU’s Department of Public Health, for inviting my colleagues and me to the table of collaboration. I appreciate the relationship we have established and look forward to it growing.”
