UNCW Releases Security Footage of Seahawk Statue Theft, Announces Reward for Information or Return of Statue

The UNCW Police Department today released security camera footage of the July theft of a beloved Seahawk statue from campus, and announced that Crime Stoppers of the Cape Fear is offering a reward for information about the theft, or for the return of the statue.

The security footage shows three white males, perceived to be between 18 and 22 years old, approaching and forcibly removing the bronze Seahawk statue from its perch in front of Warwick Center.  UPD (University Police Department) reports that the theft was discovered on the morning of Saturday, July 5.

Crime Stoppers will offer a reward commensurate with the quality of information received. The statue was dedicated in 2000 and is a well-known fixture and a symbol of pride on the UNCW campus.
