Pedestrians

Pedestrian First

UNCW is a Pedestrian First Campus.

UNCW Pedestrian First According to the 2005 Campus Master Plan, a pedestrian-first culture will be encouraged through the use of pedestrian corridors including traditional sidewalks, multi-use paths, meandering trails and greenways. Perimeter and off-campus parking and expanded on-campus shuttles already contribute to this effort. An additional campus loop shuttle has been added to cut wait times in half, and major physical improvements have been made to the Randall Dr. / Racine Dr. corridor, making it safer for pedestrians.

Pedestrian Responsibilities

  • Pedestrians shall use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever they are provided.
  • Pedestrians shall walk on the left side of the street, alleyway or driveway facing oncoming traffic.

Crosswalk Safety

Take 5 and Save a LifeWhether you walk, bike or drive, take 5 seconds to follow crosswalk safety guidelines. You may save a life by doing so.
