Tom Freshwater, Director of Physical Plant, administers Physical Plant Department daily operations. The department includes four major sections: Physical Plant Administration, Maintenance and Operations (Trades Shops), Landscape Services, and Housekeeping. These sections provide maintenance and repair, grounds maintenance, housekeeping in designated facilities owned by the university, and related administrative processes. |
Robert J. Montore, P.E. |
Bob Montore, Deputy Director of Physical Plant/ Maintenance and Operations Supervisor, supervises the planning and execution of all work associated with the maintenance of campus facilities in the areas of electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, HVAC, preventive maintenance, locksmith, and utility systems, and serves as the Director in the Director's absence. |

James Parker |
James Parker, Housekeeping Administrator, oversees operations of the Housekeeping section. The purpose of the Housekeeping section is to provide a clean campus building and healthy environment throughout. In addition to routine daily care and cleaning of all academic buildings, administrative offices, laboratories, and some non-residential auxiliary buildings, the Housekeeping section supports many special activities such as Parents' Day, the Azalea Festival, and Commencement. |
Robert Warren |
Robert Warren, Landscape Services Superintendent, directs the landscaping services of our ever-growing university, with its diversity of plant material. The Landscape Services section is responsible for the maintenance and care of paved areas and developed grounds on the main campus, plus houses in the Market Street and 17th Street areas and the Center for Marine Science on the intracoastal waterway. Landscape Services incorporates many environmentally-friendly practices. |
Matti Eason |
Matti Eason is Administrative Secretary to the Physical Plant Director. She also manages the department uniform contract, assists with fixed asset inventory, budget management, and time sheets. Matti also works with the Physical Plant Safety Committee to ensure a safer campus community. |
Ellen Boyd |
Ellen is responsible for the administrative functions related to work order processing and other functions of the craft shops. She tracks and trends work orders, reviews preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to help the supervisors establish norms, and prepares and distributes routine and special maintenance related reports. She assist the crafts and supervisors with all aspects of procurement. |
Ann Matney |
Ann coordinates the efforts of a four-person work control unit. She is responsible for the prioritization and accomplishment of the administrative tasks necessary to sustain operations of the Physical Plant Department including the processing of work orders, purchase orders, purchasing cards, petty cash receipts and the analysis of work order status reports. |
Lorie Jackson |
Lorie's primary function is to receive and distribute work orders for the entire UNCW community. Lorie is the primary contact for processing work orders for all Maintenance & Operations building repairs, Housekeeping, Landscaping Services, Key Requests, and Capital and Special Projects, as well as Dig Requests. She is also responsible for the coordination of the web work requests, as well as the contact person for pest control, elevator, and wild animal removal contractors. She is responsible for contacting building personnel when emergencies arise. |
Crystal Flynn |
Crystal's primary responsibilities are closing Physical Plant work orders for billing, answering Office of Facilities phone lines, and assisting the Work Control Administrator with report reviews. She also distributes keys to contractors and campus departments. |
Meg Stead |
Meg's primary function is to assist the Work Control Administrator in processing purchase orders, purchasing card receipts, and purchase requisitions. She is also responsible for assisting the Work Order Clerk and Receptionist with excess duties on a daily basis |
