UNCW Police investigators are still requesting information related to an individual allegedly making threatening movements and statements in Bear Hall on Sunday Dec. 9 at approx. 6:30 PM. The report was received by UNCW Police this morning, Monday, Dec. 12.
Information has been provided that indicates the suspect is a white male (see below for the complete description) who has been seen on campus many times in recent weeks. The individual may be homeless and / or mentally ill.
The suspect is a white male, 65-70 years old, approx. 5 foot 8 inches tall, average weight, with a white beard and mustache. He was reported to have been wearing a blue baseball cap or stocking cap (also referred to as a toboggan or watch cap), a thick, plaid patterned coat and an Appalachian sweatshirt.

RE: Alleged Threats
This morning UNCW Police received an anonymous report that on Sunday, Dec. 9 at approx. 6:30 PM an individual made threatening movements and statements to a male student in Bear Hall.
The suspect was described as being about 5 foot 8 inches tall, average weight, 65-70 years old, with a white beard and mustache. He was reported to have been wearing a blue baseball cap and a thick, plaid patterned coat. His race is unknown.
Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who may have been in Bear Hall on Sunday, Dec. 9 at or around 6:30 PM is asked to contact UNCW Police -Emergency 911, 962-2222, or anonymously from www.uncw.edu/police or 962-TIPS.
Updated information will be provided when and if it becomes available. Police Officers and Security Guards will make additional patrols of Bear Hall and the adjacent buildings.
