21st CCLC Program at Wire
The purpose of the 21st CCLC program is to provide students with academic enrichment opportunities along with activities designed to complement the students' regular academic program. The 21st CCLC program at Wire provides a range of high-quality services to support student learning and development. These services include but are not limited to tutoring and mentoring, homework assistance, academic enrichment (such as hands on science or technology programs), community service opportunities, music, art, sports, and cultural activities. Other enrichment activities include programs which address college access, substance abuse prevention, emotional support, counseling, and social skills activities. Recreational activities include dance, basketball, fitness, games, yoga etc.

Communities in Schools of Cape Fear
Communities In Schools is the nation's largest dropout prevention organization. The mission of CIS is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Communities in Schools of Cape Fear is dedicated to facilitating the connection between community resources and New Hanover Public Schools for the purposes of helping young people learn, stay in school, and prepare for life. CISCF was awarded the 21st Community Learning Center grant in the fall of 2008. This program is operating at the WIRE youth center and it offers community resources, services for parents and helps to meet students' needs.
