The dean of the College of Arts and Sciences oversees 19 academic departments, along with two freestanding degree programs, collectively offering 39 undergraduate and 13 graduate degrees. The dean administers an annual budget of $22 million including faculty salaries.

Responsibilities:

• Personnel actions involving 350 full-time faculty and 32 staff
• Plans and oversees all renovations and new construction of college facilities
• Oversees all college program reviews and prepares reports required by the UNC Office of the President
• Enforces academic policies pertaining to students
• Provides programmatic and faculty support to other academic units on campus
• Promotes and supports faculty development in teaching and research
• Oversees all revisions and expansions of the college’s undergraduate curriculum, degree requirements and interdisciplinary minors
• Works with the college’s development officer to build an endowment to support the college’s programs, students and faculty.
