Lab Course Policies

·         Attendance at every lab is expected unless otherwise arranged with your instructor and lab partner.

·         Tardiness to pre-lab discussions will result in loss of technique points.

*    Cell phones must be turned off in the lab. 

·         Goggles and appropriate dress are required at all times when working in the lab.

•       Absolutely NO open toed shoes or sandals allowed in the lab.  Pants must cover at least ¾ of legs in order to perform experiment, or a lab coat can be worn.  Improper dress will result in dismissal from lab for the day.

·         Standard taper and specialty glassware is used by all three lab sections and must therefore be left clean in the appropriate drawers.  This glassware must not be stored in your assigned drawer.  Doing so will result in loss of technique points.

·         Pre-lab assignments must be completed and will be periodically checked by your instructor before you start the lab.

•        Notebook pre-lab write-ups must be completed before you start each lab and experimental data and observations must be entered into your notebook as you do the experiment.  Yellow duplicate sheets will be periodically collected as you leave lab.

Lab Reports:    Unless otherwise announced, lab reports will be due on the day specified in the lab syllabus.  Late lab reports will receive a penalty of 5% of total grade per day.  Unless otherwise arranged with instructor, once graded lab reports are returned to students, no more lab reports will be accepted.
