Laboratory Course Description
| Because scientific principles are derived from experimental outcomes, three laboratory courses involving topics from each of the five disciplines will also be developed. Full time faculty, Master Teachers, and graduate students will design these laboratories to be performed at home or on field trips to readily accessible sites. The experiments will utilize materials available in local grocery, hardware or super-stores, supplemented by kits supplied through the UNCW Science and Mathematics Education Center (SMEC). These kits will be loaned to the students during the course and made available for teachers to check out for extended periods through its loan program. The laboratories will be inquiry based, and will emphasize experimental design, data analysis and presentation of results. |
