About Us

The UNCW College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) was established to make a positive impact on the health and quality of life of residents in the state of North Carolina and beyond. The goal of the CHHS is to help individuals, families and communities live healthier, more prosperous and empowered lives.

We strive to accomplish this goal through excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. Faculty, staff and students within the CHHS are passionate about the enhancement of health and quality of life, especially within the underserved communities in Southeastern North Carolina.

The CHHS consists of three professional schools: School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, School of Nursing and School of Social Work. These schools offer nationally accredited programs of study in nursing, clinical research and product development, social work, athletic training, exercise science, gerontology, public health, physical education and health teacher licensure, recreation therapy and recreation, sport leadership and tourism.

Through in-class and field experiences, our students learn to develop and apply knowledge regarding health, wellness and human needs, while building upon their natural strengths and the respect of individuals living in the communities in which they work. In this way, we prepare professionals who possess the ability to process knowledge in interprofessional teams to address real-life community problems.

We invite you to join the CHHS on our journey to enhance health and quality of life.
