SHAHS Students Invited to Participate in a Rally in Raleigh Regarding Sustaining Tobacco Prevention Programs
As part of our Tobacco Free Colleges Initiative grant, we were invited to participate in a rally in Raleigh regarding sustaining tobacco prevention programs. We heard from several legislators that encouraged us to keep up the good work but our group was specifically interested in talking to legislators about changing the state law that says UNC schools cannot be tobacco free. We talked one on one with several law makers who surprisingly, were not even aware there was such a law. As a result we were able to start the education and awareness process before we ask the BOG to consider taking such a policy change to law makers during the next legislative session.
