Academic Minors Offered through Computer Science
Requirements for a Minor in Computer Science:
Effective Fall 2013 (Catalogue 201410):- CSC 131 - Introduction to Computer Science
- CSC 133 - Discrete Mathematical Structures
- CSC 231 - Introduction to Data Structures
- CSC 331 - Object-Oriented Programming and Design
- 6 additional CSC hours at the 200 level or above, including at least 3 at the 300-400 level
Total: 20 hours
Prior to Fall 2013:
21 hours.
- CSC 100, 121, 133, 221, 332,
- 6 additional CSC hours at the 200 level or above, including at least 3 at the 300-400 level.
- An overall quality point average of “C” (2.00)
or better is required for all courses counted toward the minor.
Minor in Digital Arts
24 hours. A minor in digital arts requires completion of 24 hours, including 18 hours of core courses and 6 hours of electives. At least 3 elective hours must be at the 300 level or above, and at least 3 elective hours must be chosen from outside a student’s major department. Students should contact Dr. Eric Patterson in the Department of Computer Science for additional information.

Minor in Information Technology
The College of Arts and Sciences offers an interdisciplinary minor in information technology which provides students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of technology and its impact on society and in the workplace. Because information technology affects virtually all aspects in society: education, business, and industry; the study of information technology is best suited to an interdisciplinary approach. In this interdisciplinary minor, students will encounter various aspects of information technology that directly impacts their chosen course of study. Students should contact Dr. Laurie Patterson in the Department of Computer Science for additional information.
Requirements for a Minor in Information Technology: A minor in information technology requires completion of 18 hours, including 12 hours of core courses and 6 hours of electives. At least 3 elective hours must be at the 300 level or above.
Core Courses:

- CSC 112 or 121 or MIS 216 or equivalent;
- LIB 103;
- Any 3-credit 200 or higher level CSC or MIS course.
Electives:

200 or higher level CSC course (not used to fulfill the core course

Students must earn at least a “C” (2.00) average in courses counted for a minor in information technology. This minor is not available for students majoring in computer science.
