Heather Page, BS Marine Biology, graduated Spring 2011
"After my sophomore year, I participated in an NSF-Research Experience for Undergraduates internship at Bodega Marine Lab. Here, I researched the effect of ocean acidification on oyster larvae growth and metabolism. The internship gave me the confidence to present at several conferences; I was even awarded “Best Student Poster” at the Western Society of Naturalists Conference. The following summer, I researched the impact of ocean acidification on juvenile Tanner crab survival and growth at the Kodiak Fisheries Research Center for 9 weeks, the internship component of the Hollings Scholarship Program.I am applying for PhD programs in marine ecology and hope to study the impact of ocean acidification on community structure and species relationships.
