This resource is part of an ongoing project of the Center for Teaching Excellence and the Web Course Development Team 2001, the "Online Course Course." Since it is important to evaluate our efforts in writing online courses by (1) meeting criteria that ensure the courses provide high quality learning experiences, and (2) providing a basis for critical peer assessment, these "elements" will serve as a checklist of requirements online courses must meet, both pedagogical and technological.
