What is the OLLI at UNCW?
UNCW is one of 119 prestigious universities and colleges in the United States designated as an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Founded by Bernard Osher in 1997, the Bernard Osher Foundation supports a wide range of educational and cultural initiatives. In 2005, UNCW received $100,000 of funding from the foundation to expand continuing education and lifelong learning programs. UNCW received another $100,000 in 2006. In June 2007, the foundation generously endowed the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNCW with $1 million to continue expanding educational courses and diversity programming!
How Can I Participate?
It's easy! When you register for a Pathways program, you receive a complimentary Institute membership. Additional levels of membership allow you to personalize your learning experience.
- Lifelong Learner ($10 per semester)
Enjoy privileges a UNCW's Randall Library and participate at n in Super Saturday. Lifelong Learner membership is automatic when you pay the OSHER registration fee.
- Plato Society ($50 per semester)
People Learning Actively Teaching Others
Interactive, meaningful, and fun are just a few adjectives to describe membership in the Plato Society.

In this new inclusive club you have all the benefits of the Plato Society, choice of unlimited OLLI Pathways courses for the semester, 10% discount on all dinners and lunches, and a special OLLI Welcome Social.
Giving Levels
- Provost Club ($1,000 per year)
Share in the privileges of the Plato Society and help an undergraduate student meet their potential by designating $500 to the Community Engagement Leadership scholarship* and membership in UNCW’s Provost Club.
- Chancellor Club ($2,500 per year)
Create a living legacy by contributing $2,000 towards the endowment of the Community Engagement Leadership scholarship* and enjoy the benefits of membership in the Plato Society and the UNCW Chancellor’s Club.
* Single semester membership is not available during a spring semester.
