MarineQuest’s mission is to offer programming that provides young people with opportunities to explore, discover and value our marine habitats and encourages them to develop into environmentally responsible adults. Our newest program Sea Squirts provides budding scientists ages 3-5 with opportunities to investigate the marine science of our coastal environment.
Young children have all the ingredients necessary to make good scientists. They are naturally curious. They enjoy testing and re-testing things. They are observant, using all their senses. They have great imaginations. Mixed together these ingredients enable young children to come up with creative solutions and inventive explanations for the world around them – just like grownup scientists. So why not offer them opportunities to exercise their scientific abilities?
Sea Squirts can come to your school or center for a one time visit or on a regular basis throughout the academic year. We can also arrange age-appropriate field trips to several marine habitats during warmer weather. Our activities are aligned with national and North Carolina standards for early childhood and kindergarten education.
