Minutes of the Annual Business Meeting of the Dreiser Society
American Literature Association Meeting
Cambridge, MA, May 22, 2003
1. Secretary's report: Of 77 members, only 38 have paid dues for
2003. Members are encouraged to remit dues promptly.
2. Dreiser Studies report:
- The journal continues to prosper, but the expanded length and
redesign have meant increased printing costs. Prompt
remittal of membership dues is thus more important than
ever. We discussed the advantages and drawbacks of
shifting to an annual to save on printing and postage costs. For
the time being, the Department of English at the University of
North Carolina at Wilmington has agreed to help cover costs in
the event of a shortfall.
- Miriam Gogol has resigned from the editorial board, and
Dreiser Studies offers its sincere thanks for her years of
service. It was decided to ask Renate von Bardeleben to join the
editorial board.
- Stephen Brennan has asked to be replaced as the journal
bibliographer.
