Professional Development System (WSE):
Our door represents the evolution of our partnership with P-12 public schools. One side of the door represents the past and the other side of the door represents the future. In the past, education was based on rote memorization with the teacher as the central figure in the classroom. In future classrooms we are ‘diving’ towards more inquiry based instruction with student collaboration central to the educational process. This distinction is represented in our background photos. The door also represents our university-school partnerships. In the past, much of our work with partner schools has been compartmentalized with individual faculty working with certain schools. In the future, we hope to have more cross-district and international collaborations. This represents our move towards "partnerships without borders--" substantive partnerships that can be developed and sustained despite the challenges of distance and time.

Office of Dean of Students/Transition Programs:
The Office of Dean of Students and Transition Programs staff are diving in the ocean. As we dive deeper, we take advantage of opportunities that aspire each of us to reach great heights. The culmination is reaching the bottom of the ocean to provide the ultimate treasure chest of services and opportunities our departmental staff offer the UNCW family.

Student Accounts and Cashier's Office:
The Soaring Seahawk above the door represents our desire to seek and dive into new opportunities that support the University’s mission and efforts. Each fish bubble identifies an area of new opportunity for us; providing greater customer service, increasing efficiencies, going green, generating support revenue, reducing university costs, supporting financial assistance, managing student receivables, teambuilding, and improving campus communications. The eleven flying sea hawks represent each staff member of Student Accounts soaring into new solutions and innovations; these are captured in the clouds. The clouds contain the improvements and successes achieved by our team; E-billing, E-refunds, E-payments, the in-house TealPay tuition payment plan, Travelex international payments, electronic deposit transmittals, online tutorials, online communications and monthly E-newsletters, ImageNow collections workflow process, Perkins $1,000,000 goal, and the newly created SACO Student Scholarship.

University Advancement:
PHIL (who stands for Philanthropy) is the face of Annual Giving’s Student Philanthropy Campaign. PHIL is featured around campus discovering new cultures, working on research projects, volunteering for community organizations, playing club sports and participating in many other student activities - thanks to the generosity of the thousands of donors who support UNCW each year. Students are the lifeblood of the University and the “Get to Know PHIL” program helps students understand the impact philanthropy has on our campus.
This week PHIL is exploring a new opportunity – skydiving! He’s soaring high over Wilmington to discover all the amazing accomplishments of those Seahawks who have come before him. This scene features just a few examples of alumni entrepreneurs whose businesses have flourished.
PHIL once again recognizes that without private support these Seahawks would not have been given the resources and opportunities they needed as students to soar high within the ranks of success after graduation.
Thank you to all the alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff and students who give to UNCW and inspire the next generation of leaders.

VCSA:
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs celebrates Employee Appreciation Week with its door decoration- “Dive Into Learning!” The door reflects the theme for this year, and underscores the importance of several currently held values at UNCW- Learning, Innovation, and our Location! The door includes the names of the VCSA staff and departments, so people passing can get a sense of who we are (it even includes the names of our furry little friends, all our pet dogs). We also thought it appropriate to include our new leader- Chancellor Miller.

With a compacted schedule, these students complete four years of high school course requirements by the end of their sophomore year, enabling them complete their last two years as university students, here on our campus. The Early College student epitomizes this year's theme: they dive into these new educational opportunities as "Bears" and soar to greater heights as "Seahawks," all with the help of UNCW's exceptional faculty and staff.
