The Watson School of Education has an established comprehensive candidate assessment system and process to collect and analyze data on applicant qualifications and the performance of teacher education candidates and graduate program students. This system ensures that their progress is monitored throughout the program and beyond. The University, Watson School of Education, its programs, and university partners use the assessment data to evaluate and improve the unit, programs, individual courses, and ultimately the quality of candidates to enter the workforce. Informed by NC Program Approval Standards and NCATE standards, the assessment system is multifaceted and reflects the conceptual framework and mission of the Watson School: To Develop Highly Competent Professionals to serve in Educational Leadership Roles.
