NCTeach/CT3 Beginning of Semester Checklist


• Apply and be accepted to UNC Wilmington as a non-degree graduate extension student (NC Teach only) or special undergraduate extension student (CT3 or NC Teach). You cannot register for any courses unless you are admitted to UNCW in one of the student classifications above.


•You will be registered for the spring CT3 or NC Teach course by Dr. Thomas. If you are planning to take any other courses, you will need to register via SEAWEB.


•All tuition and fees for spring must by paid by 4:00 p.m. on January 12th. The Cashier’s Office is located in James Hall. If you do not pay by the due date, your classes will be cancelled. Note the semester calendar on www.uncw.edu/reg/ for important dates each semester.


•Meet with Mr. Sam Black to discuss your plan of study by February 1st. Mr. Black will outline all courses needed for licensure in addition to the NC Teach/CT 3 modules. Contact Mr. Black via email: blacks@uncw.edu or phone 910-962-3912 to schedule an appointment. His office is in the Education Building (EB 326). Mr. Black also is willing to meet with students at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville.


•All students admitted to UNCW as special undergraduates must take and pass all 3 sections of Praxis I (Reading, Writing, Math) by March 15th. (See information at www.uncw.edu/ed/advising/) NC Teach non-degree graduate students must take and pass the Miller Analogies Test (score of 40 required) or GRE (score of 1000 on verbal and quantitative combined required) by March 15th. Be sure to code UNCW as a score recipient. (Students who have earned a Master’s degree are not required to take Praxis I.)


•Apply to the Watson School of Education for admission to the teacher education program. Applications are available in EB 326 and online at www.uncw.edu/ed/advising/ Applications must be submitted to EB 326 by April 27th for admission at the conclusion of the spring semester.
All NC Teach and CT3 candidates must be admitted to the Watson School of Education in order to take upper level EDN courses.


•Meet with Mr. Black during the preregistration advising period in mid-March. (You must meet with Mr. Black each semester to obtain your SEAWEB registration number in order to register for classes. Bring the plan of study document each time so that he can monitor your progress toward completion of coursework. Feel free to call any time for an appointment, but the advising sessions each semester are required.)


•Register for Summer and Fall courses using SEAWEB, UNCW’s online registration system.
