Dr. Richard Huber
Hello, my name is Richard Huber and I teach middle school and elementary science methods in the Watson College of Education. This is my 17th year at UNCW. Before coming to UNCW I taught middle school and high school science in Iowa for 18 years.
In the photograph above I am chewing on a 10,000 year old chunk of ice from
the iceberg in the background. While we were in Newfoundland, my wife and
I rented kayaks and paddled out to a small iceberg off the Northern Coast.
We knew this was a little dangerous as we were surrounded by pothead whales
and knew that as icebergs melted they have a tendency to roll over taking
any small boats nearby with them. But then again the experience and photograph
was worth the risk.
