I am Ms. Pamela (P.J.) Bolduc, and part-time instructor and university supervisor. I have been with the Watson School of Education since 2000, when I received my M.Ed. in Curriculum/Instruction Supervision from UNCW. I also hold a B.S. Ed. in special education from Miami University.
My passion has always been working with children with special needs, and I taught in the public schools for 13 years in a variety of classrooms for children with moderate mental retardation, learning disabilities, and behavior disorders. Over the years my focus shifted from a self-contained setting to an inclusion setting – including children with disabilities into general education classrooms. I implemented a successful team teaching model at Myrtle Grove Middle School, where I co-taught math, language arts, science and social studies. I currently teach EDN 320 – Meeting Needs of Special Students in Middle Schools, and I also supervise special education teacher interns.
I live in Wilmington with my husband Bill, who is a professor at UNCW in the Communication Studies Department. Our two children, seven-year old Haley and four-year old Logan, keep me busy with their activities and volunteering at their schools. In addition to my family and education, my other great love is music. I sing in a choir and mixed ensemble, and I am the children’s choir coordinator at Pine Valley United Methodist Church, where over 80 children participate in our music program.
Helping learners reach their fullest potential – whether they be learners with special needs, aspiring young musicians, students in a university class, or interns preparing for their first job – is a responsibility to which I am truly dedicated.
