The Watson College of Education is on the move. We have many projects and initiatives underway. We have occupied the new School of Education building since February 2005.
The North Carolina Teachers Legacy Hall, located in the atrium of the Education Building, includes nine niches depicting multiple facets of education in North Carolina: teaching tools, one-room schoolhouse, school bus, awards, teachers and principals of the year, historical timeline/current events, school desks, films that teach, and books with donors’ names.
In addition, Legacy Hall features a bust of North Carolina educator Jay Robinson and a scale model of the U.S.S. North Carolina.
The needs are great in the Watson College. We need to recruit students into education as high school seniors and from other professions. We need scholarship dollars to do this. Equipment and materials are needed to ensure our students have the appropriate science, reading, history, math, and assistive technology materials to prepare them for the P-12 classroom in our region.
