Your Gifts At Work
With every gift, a student grows.
By the age of 6, Nick Corak decided he wanted to be a math teacher. As a UNCW senior he is pursuing his dream, double majoring in mathematics (with a teaching license) and physics.
“Currently, I am working on my honors thesis where I am designing labs based on previous research in the field of Physics Education Research (PER). I want to change how students problem solve by modifying their thinking strategies and allowing them to contemplate how they learn and process information.
As a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, I have dedicated the next four to seven years of my life to teaching public school in the state. In the future, I'd like to get a PhD in Physics Education and possibly teach at the university level. Since I have had the opportunity to study abroad, I know the importance of an international education and would also like to teach in another country.
I would love to study the learning styles of students from different nationalities and connect classrooms around the world to work collaboratively on projects."
