Praxis Information
Everyone who wishes to be licensed to teach English as a Second Language in North Carolina must take the Praxis II in ESL, even those students who have completed an ESL add-on licensure program.
According to North Carolina law, teachers who currently hold an initial level teaching license may add on ESL by passing the Praxis II in ESL and are not required by law to take any courses in the add-on program.
