Dr. Moallem is on her second year ofre-assignment to National Science Foundation as an Instructional Technology Project Leader (IPA). She will continue serving at National Science Foundation while also maintaining her leadership and professional development activities at UNCW. (8/17/07)

  • Dr. Moallem presented a paper at the Cognition and Exploratory Learning in Digital Age (CELDA) conference, Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Moallem's trip to Spain was funded by National Science Foundation and her paper was published in CELDA Conference Proceedings. (12/15/06)

  • Dr's. Moallem and Chen visited and provided seminars and workshops in Central Luzon State University in Philippines, National Pingtung University, Pingtung, Taiwan and National Taichung University, Taichung City, Taiwan (Dec. 2005).

Dr. Moallem is collaborating with Dr. Madhumita Bhattacharya, Science and Technology graduate students and teachers in Massey university, New Zealand on a problem-based learning project. Middle School science teachers in New Hanover County in U.S. and science teachers in New Zealand are working together to use problem-based learning approach in middle school science curriculum. Dr. Moallem and the team are using new Synchronous Learning Management System (SLMS) to conduct their meetings in real time. (Aug. 2005- present) [http://people.uncw.edu/moallemm/PBLproject/]

  • Dr. Madhumita Bhattacharya presented and discussed her research and work on the role of technology in integrating math and science. Dr. Bhattacharya is a faculty member in the Department of Technology, Science & Mathematics Education, College of Education, Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand. She has worked extensively in the area of Problem-Based Learning and has taught several courses in integration of science and technology. Posted 8.17.05

  • Beginning in Fall 2005, the MIT department is offering a new Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) & 079 Endorsement in Educational Computing and Technology Facilitation (TF) online post-baccalaureate certificate. Click here to learn more!
  • Dr's. Moallem, Murdock and Fischetti received a $ 82,000.00 grant from the Office of the President to develop an online Technology Facilitator program.
  • Dr. Moallem presented two research papers in 2004 AERA (American Educational Association) conference.
  • Dr. Moallem and Dr. Chen presented a paper in 2004 AERA (American Educational Association) conference.
  • Dr. Moallem and Dr. Chen conducted a workshop and presented papers in 2004 SITE (Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education) conference.
  • Two new faculty members--Dr. Jennifer Summerville and Dr. Arnold Murdock-- joined the MIT program in Fall 2003.
  • Dr. Summerville presented a paper at the leading association in the field of instructional technology --AECT (Association for Educational Communication and Technology), Nov. 2003.
  • Dr's. Moallem and Chen conducted a workshop and presented a paper at the International Conference on Computer Applications in Education in Hong Kong, Dec. 2003.
