PDS Implementation Team
The PDS Implementation
Team, composed of UNCW faculty and school system administrators and teachers,
is the ongoing group that discusses issues and presents items for decision-making
impacting the daily
functioning of the Professional Development System. Its
mission is to serve as a clearinghouse for the identification of issues
and to facilitate the design and implementation of appropriate solutions.
It
was formed to help guide the development of the Professional Development
System and to respond to the issues that impact the university-school
partnership. Members this year include 42 university and school system
faculty and administrators who are deeply involved in PDS. The team meets
monthly with the Director of PDS to discuss major implementation concerns
and needs for the partnership. Outcomes of the
meetings are shared with the Dean and Associate Deans and in meetings
with superintendents to better meet the needs of an evolving partnership.
The Implementation Team's agenda for 2007-2008 focuses on new teacher support and retention and the possibility of hosting a forum on this critical issue in the year ahead. The work of the Implementation Team is informed by the WSE Conceptual Framework and the educational goals of the partnership's participants.
Major areas of partnership implementation include:
- Technology
- Training
- Placement
- Communications
- Dissemination, Grants, and Initiatives
- Research, Development, and Evaluation
