Site Principal Roles and Responsibilities

PDS administrators seek to foster professional norms of competence and quality learning environments for teachers and students. The Site Principal…

  • Oversees the process for identification of quality placement sites for interns;

  • Works closely with site coordinator to facilitate intern cohort placements;

  • Participates in PDS orientation training and in annual training conferences;

  • Serves as an intellectual resource for partnership teachers, university supervisors and interns;

  • Aligns organizational structures and resources to reinforce the stated goals of PDS (e.g. ensures that partnership teachers have access to available technology training and application within the classroom);

  • Participates in site seminars focused on learning outcomes;

  • Supports site coordinators, partnership teachers, and others to improve instructional outcomes;

  • Involves interns as part of site faculty;

  • Ensures that mechanisms are in place to help parents participate in and understand the partnership goals;

  • Is committed to continuous school improvement and the professional growth of administration, faculty, and teacher interns;

  • Has at least three years of experience as a successful principal;

  • Submits a PDS School Application and reviews it annually.
