WSE Student Requirements

To be admitted to the Watson School of Education, students must meet the following requirements and submit an application to the Teacher Education Program. The application typically is submitted during the sophomore year. Admission is required for eligibility to enroll in EDN 300 level courses.

Students must:

1. Complete the university requirements in English, mathematics and a natural science laboratory course with a grade of "C" or better in each course.



2. Complete EDN 200, "Teacher, School and Society" with a grade of "C" or better.



3. Complete four semesters or two academic years or the required Basic Studies courses with a grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale. Transfer students must earn a 2.7 on a minimum of 12 hours completed at UNCW
.


4. Attain passing scores on the teacher education entry tests specified by the Board of Education of the State of North Carolina.
