The University of North Carolina Wilmington's Extension Site provides courses and degree programs to persons with an associate's degree or equivalent who wish to complete a four-year degree in elementary education, criminology, social work, or business administration. The Onslow Extension also offers Master’s programs in liberal studies and elementary education. You may learn more about the programs offered on the Onslow Extension website.

If you are going to be attending the Extension Program, and are interested in receiving financial aid, you should contact your financial aid counselor and inform him/her of the situation so that there are no discrepancies to resolve in the future.
-
UNCW students who wish to take non-UNCW courses at one of the Extension Sites must complete a Transient Study Form. Contact your financial aid counselor to file this form.
-
When completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), if you have an associate's degree be careful not to mistakenly indicate you have a bachelor's degree. This could change your financial aid eligibility during the awarding process, and prevent you from receiving a share of limited funds you may have otherwise been eligible to receive.
-
Tuition and fees for students who attend the UNCW Extension Program will be different than those who attend the Wilmington campus. Due to this, Extension Students have a different cost of attendance. The FAVSO awards students all eligible aid, up to their cost of attendance, which includes offers of Stafford Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans. PLUS or Alternative loans are often needed to meet tuition, fees and other expenses.
-
Students who have an associate's degrees are eligible for a maximum $7,500 in base Federal Stafford Student Loans, with the possibility of an additional $5,000 in Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans if determined independent as defined by the FAFSA.
