Loan Information

To be eligible to receive federal student loans, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and be enrolled at least half-time.

Loans may be offered as part of a student’s financial aid package at UNCW. Loans must be repaid.

The following loans are available for the student and family to consider:

• Federal Direct StudentLoans
• Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
• Federal PLUS Loan for Graduate Students
• Federal Perkins Loan
• Non-Federal Loans - UNCW strongly encourages families to consider all sources of federal funding before applying for an alternative or Non-Federal Loan.

Entrance Counseling and the completion of a Master Promissory Note (MPN) are REQUIRED for all students borrowing federal student loans and/or federal PLUS Loans for graduate students at UNCW for the first time. Entrance counseling and the MPN may be completed, on-line, at www.studentloans.gov.
