There are two Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Offices that handle the various types of educational benefits for veterans in North Carolina:

• Veterans Affairs Regional Office, St Louis, Missouri

• Veterans Affairs Regional Office, Decatur, Georgia

In the UNCW Financial Aid & Veterans Services Office, the university has established a Veterans Services Coordinator (VSC) position who is responsible for helping students understand services available to them and requirements for obtaining and continuing funding to support veterans in achieving their educational goals at UNCW.

The Financial Aid & Veterans Services Office is located in King Hall and is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The VSC is a university position and not part of the VA; however, the VSC works very closely with the two east coast VA offices mentioned above. The VSC and peer counselors are available to assist you in applying for your VA educational benefits and in submitting the official documentation. They also offer guidance and counseling for issues relating to either the university or the VA.
