David Gagliano teaches Latin language and literature. His interests include Augustan Age literature, Vergil and Ovid, their opposing perspectives on Rome’s first emperor, Latin inscriptions, and the topography of Rome. He has participated in archaeological excavations at the Etruscan-Roman sites of Poggio delle Civitelle and Cetamura del Chianti, as trench supervisor and assistant site director. David aspires to bring the ancient world to life for his students, and to this end, as program director of a spring break program in Italy, David will lead some students to the major sites and monuments of Rome, including Rome’s finest pizzerias and gelaterias.
