Dr. Boomershine teaches courses in Spanish language, Hispanic linguistics, and seminars on topics such as immigration and variation. In addition, she coordinates the lower-level Spanish courses at UNCW. She has published a book chapter and articles in the fields of socio-phonetics and language variation. She is very active in the community, developing service-learning opportunities for students of Spanish at all levels. She serves on the advisory board for the Centro Hispano and the Women’s Resource Center at UNCW. She also advises UNCW’s chapter of Amnesty International and serves as the Vice-President of the local chapter of the United Nations Association.
