Dr. Raymond Burt, in addition to his duties as chair of the department, teaches all levels of German language and literature. He is the coordinator of the UNC German Studies Consortium (http://portal.northcarolina.edu/gsc/index.htm) and is active in teaching upper level courses through distance learning technology. His areas of research are Eighteenth Century German Literature (Goethe, Jung-Stilling), Austrian Literature at the turn of the century (Richard von Kralik, Friedrich S. Krauss), and contemporary Austrian Literature (Michael Köhlmeier, Marlene Streeruwitz).
