- Thursday, Feb. 7: History Lecture by Dr. Erika Edwards

In honor of Black History Month, and as a part of the UNCW Upperman/Africana Studies Lecture and Film Series, please be aware of the upcoming lecture by Dr. Erika Edwards of the UNC Charlotte Department of History. - Tuesday, Feb. 12: US Foreign Aid: Focus on Central America and the Caribbean

Nancy L. Hoffman (USAID) and Jerry P. Bauer (USDA-Forest Service) will offer insights on how the United States plays a role in promoting human rights, economic growth, and sustainable environmental development abroad. Panelists will cite specific examples from the Caribbean and Central America. Q&A follows panel discussion. - Tuesday, Feb. 12: Access to Higher Education for Undocumented Youth

- Wednesday, Feb. 13: Through the Eyes of Refugees: Personal Stories from Refugees in Wilmington

Refugees from Burma and Colombia now living in Wilmington will share their experiences with us. We will also learn about the work done with refugees by the Interfaith Refugee Ministry and the United Nations. - Friday, Feb. 15: Contra-Tiempo Salsa Workshop

- Thursday, March 14th: Voces inocentes

Voces inocentes is a 2004 Mexican film directed by Luis Mandoki. The plot is set during the Salvadoran Civil War in pito, and is based on writer Óscar Torres's childhood. The film serves as a general commentary on the military use of children.

This event will benefit "Amigos Internacional" which is a local non-profit organization that helps Hispanics in the Wilmington community. There will be a raffle and DJ at the event. Every walker that raises at least $30 by April 10th will receive a T-shirt. For every $10 raised, a walker will be entered into a raffle. The walker who raises the most money will win a PRIZE!
